Denise Southworth
Born, 1961, in Manchester, the city she has spent almost all of her life, Denise remembers hearing The Beatles as a small child on her parents transistor radio. She had a fun childhood playing football with the boys and being mischievous, though her teachers thought otherwise and suspended her for a year.
After leaving school with little in the way of qualifications, she worked her way up as a youth worker, a job she found very rewarding. After being made redundant and having time on her hands, she noticed an advert for a radio course. There was no guarantee of a show out of it, but Denise took to it like a duck to water, and with her gift of the gab and huge record collection decided to pitch for her own show at WFM.

"Whilst I felt there were some marvellous shows (on WFM), I decided to ask for a show where I could add something different...and so my Mouthworth of Southworth show came about.
"I play a wide range of music-- everything from Marley to Mozart via Led Zeppelin. plus humour, soap box rantings on current topics, interviews and whatever else comes out of my mouth."
