Colin Smith

Colin Smith joined WFM around 15 years ago after seeing an advert in a cafe in Civic looking for older presenters. After a training course at Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre he co-presented the Evergreen Show, a magazine for over 50s.

Colin went on to present the Out & About Show. an arts show, and when that ended, decided to do a Country and Folk show, as these genres were not covered by the station at the time and they are often crossover styles. After watching a TV programme about Radio 4 soap The Archers, "an everyday story of country folk", Colin came up with the name CountryFolk Show, which he continues to present today every Monday afternoon from 2pm.

Colin also hosts Drivetime every Tuesday at 5pm with 2 hours of local news, weather, travel and what’s on. There’s plenty of music from all genres including a “Welcome” track, a track leading up to the weather and the travel, a “Guilty Pleasure” track, the 2@6 (2 versions of the same track)  plus 2 “Novelty” tracks!

"I enjoy what I do and I hope you do too!"
